Jennifer Gravesen, LMHC

Jennifer is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) with an extensive background working with trauma, children and families; this includes time working in the child welfare system, juvenile residential treatment, outpatient settings and the public school system, giving her a well-rounded approach. It is Jennifer's goal to dig deeper and help clients gain a better understanding of the underlying root of presenting symptoms for better long-term results. While trauma treatment is her passion, Jennifer also works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, attachment related concerns, issues related to adoption or foster care, parenting/co-parenting concerns, problems in school and with suicidal ideation or self-harming behaviors. Jennifer is welcoming of all clients, with an understanding of neurodivergence, cultural competency and issues facing the LGBTQ+ Community. Therapy is a collaborative process and the client is always the expert on their own experiences.

Jennifer received her Master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY in 2013. She has her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from University of Central Florida. She engages in regular continued education and training, typically focused on trauma-based therapies, cultural competency and ethics. Jennifer utilizes a variety of therapy techniques, individualized to each client's needs, including person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, play therapy and Circle of Security parenting program. She also offers EMDR for children and adults, as well as Child Parent Psychotherapy for younger children, which is an evidence-based approach for treating children 0-5 who have experienced trauma.
