August is National Wellness Month
August is National Wellness Month, a time when we invite our staff, clients, friends, and family to prioritize their well-being. We recognize that self-care and healthy lifestyle choices play an important role in improving both physical and mental health and that dedicating time to wellness can significantly reduce stress and promote a more balanced life.
Historically, National Wellness Month has focused on holistic health, which includes physical wellness through regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and proper sleep, as well as emotional wellness through mindfulness practices and effective stress management. At Dandelion Behavioral Health, we view mental health within the context of our clients’ overall well-being, which includes the connection between mind, body, and spirit. This allows us to integrate evidence-based lifestyle changes into our work with clients.
Self-care is another key part of National Wellness Month, reminding us that prioritizing our needs is not selfish but essential for a healthy mind. Activities like meditation, spending time in nature, practicing gratitude, and engaging in enjoyable hobbies are all examples of self-care practices. By setting aside time for these activities, we can recharge our energy, reduce stress, improve physical health, sharpen our focus, and strengthen our relationships.
Help us promote awareness of National Mental Wellness Month to destigmatize mental health issues and encourage open dialogue. By encouraging open dialogue about mental health, we can create a more supportive and safe environment that allows people to seek help.
